Adoration

We all know what’s it’s like to adore something. For some, it’s our family, our spouse, or even our dog. We might even adore something like our shoes! I don’t know about you, but I’m quick to rave about things and people that I adore. I often see this as the barometer for how I feel about something.

What surprises me often is how I struggle to “adore” God. I am quick to be thankful, and to pray about things that matter to me, but I don’t often find it easy or find myself naturally listing off the reasons I love God. I think I don’t do it often because I know He knows how great He is. However, just like we love it when our significant other tells us why we love them, He loves it when His people rave about him and to him.

I’m seeing more and more just how awe-inspiring our Lord is. He is patient; He is loving. He does not get angry quickly; He has a plan. He is beautiful; He is creative. He is so many more things that I could list here.

In my concordance, there’s only one place where the word “Adore” appears – Song of Songs 1:4 “Friends…We rejoice and delight in you; we praise your love more than wine. She …How right they are to adore you!”

This is about a marriage, which is a reflection of God’s love for us. Today, spend some time praising and adoring the almighty Creator who loves you more than you can imagine.
