The Great Commission – For some this brings excitement and motivation; for others, it can bring extreme guilt or stress.
Jesus has just returned after his resurrection, and he’s talking to the disciples for what appears to be one of the last times. Some are doubting that it’s really Him, and others are ready for instructions of what’s next to come:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 6:19-20
I have this desire to go and do this, but have only had a few instances where I’ve seen fruit of this desire and motivation. Part of this is fear, and part of this is pure laziness.
Today, I would encourage you to:
- Pray through why you feel the way you do about being missional.
- Confess any sin including fear, anxiety, etc you might have about fulfilling this call.
- Pray for someone in your life that does not know Him, and for God to use you in this person’s life in the next couple of days.
