“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23
Today, we highlight joy, which is hard for me to understand sometimes. I want to make it like happiness. But, if we are honest, we aren’t always happy. We can always be joyous in the Lord.
You see “happiness” involves our circumstances, which can change like the waves in the sea. But, joy, joy comes from the Lord. Joy does not mean we always have a smile on our face. It means we have hope. It means we trust in the Lord. It means when even like it seems if we’ve hit rock-bottom, we can have joy in what’s to come. It doesn’t mean things will get easier, or that we’ll have everything we ask for. However, it means that we can trust that no matter what, God will be glorified through the situation, and that if we follow and surrender our lives to Jesus, we can never be without hope.
Questions To Think about today:
- What does your joy come from right now? Is it Jesus, or is it your circumstances?
- Where could you use some joy in your life today?
- Pray that God would give you joy today, and in the future no matter what may come your way.
