Walking in the Spirit

We’ve all had those days. We wake up and thing after thing just seems to go wrong. Your outfit you planned out, either is missing a key element (which is still in the hamper), or you spill your breakfast all over it. Traffic seems to be worse than usual. You come in with issue over issue to be solved at work, or it’s another day as you wait for God to provide a job.

When that happens, I literally just want to go back to bed and start all over!

The Apostles definitely had these types of days. Luckily, Jesus leaves us the Holy Spirit to step in on these days. In John 20:21-23, Jesus appears to his disciples, and says, “Again, Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you’ And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.’ ”

Paul then reminds us, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” (Gal. 5:25).

Today, I would encourage you to:

  • Ask God to remind you of a time where the Spirit intervened for you.
  • Call on the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to be with you today, and to prick your heart as needed.
  • Thank God for this gift, and the gift of the Gospel, and what it means to you today.
