Do you remember when you were a little kid, and you could spend hours, playing with toys, making up stories, or just day dreaming? I had big windows in the house where I grew up, and I would spend hours sometimes just sitting by them, looking out, dreaming up ideas, schemes, or stories.
God has gifted each of us in different ways, and one way that He uses us in great ways is helping us to dream. Our pastor challenges new people every month to “Pray that God would do something so great in and through you that it’s doomed to failure unless He’s in it.”
I’ve always thought it was such a cool prayer, and love that we are challenged with that. However, until recently, I hadn’t stopped to dream through ideas and prayers to see how He might do that. Work has challenged us to spend an hour every week just praying or dreaming through new ideas. It’s been freeing to see what God would use me for.
Paul writes to the Ephesians, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” (Eph. 3:20)
Today, I would encourage you to find some time whether it’s now or later, to even give yourself 15 minutes to dream big. Pray the prayer for God to do immeasurably more than you could imagine, and just ask Him to give you ideas. It may feel awkward at first, but just write down anything that comes to mind. Listen well!
