Every year I pick one word to be my theme for the upcoming year. It’s a version of a New Year’s Resolution. This is typically a word that I feel like God wants me to grow in, or some type of truth that I desire to have engrained in my heart more.
This year my word is “MADE”. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” In the Psalms, it is written that ” For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psalm 139:13). Later in the New Testament, Paul writes, “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.” (Col. 1:16).
We’ve all been made by the Creator. He has made us for a specific purpose, for His Glory. My goal this year is to explore that a little more, and go deeper to see how else God may want to use me. Is it in my new job? In my family? In a group of old friends? Maybe stepping out and meeting some new friends? I want to make sure I am aware of my gifts that God has given me, and that I’m using them.
Today, I challenge you to think about the ways God has made you. What gifts has He given you? How is He currently using you? Where else could He be calling you to be used by Him?
