Lately, I’ve been hearing more and more about people listening to lies: lies that they aren’t good enough, that they don’t measure up, that they weren’t made for anything special, or even that they aren’t loved. That last one really hurts my heart. The truth is none of this is true. The Evil One would love for us to believe all these lies!
John 8:44 says, “When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Satan is the creator of lies. He does this because he wants us to doubt God. He wants us to feel like we are somehow in control. He wants us to pull away from God. He is the opposite of God. This is manifested often in our anxiety, worry and stress. Think about it – when was the last time you felt anxiety, worry or stress. What lie were you believing when you get down to the root of it?
Jesus came to take all our worries, doubts, fears, and anxieties. He asks us to believe in Him, and follow His teachings in return. It’s so simple that sometimes lies can even enter in there!
Today, I encourage you to think about where you are believing lies. Write them down, and acknowledge to God that they are lies. Then, if you have time, go deeper into the Word, and find verses that share the truth of what you are struggling with. Share with a friend, and ask them to hold you accountable to not letting these lies take you captive anymore.
